Hydraulic hose size calculator
Enter the flow rate through the line and the line type; we calculate the smallest inner diameter for the recommended flow velocity, and show hoses of the next standard size up that meet the working pressure.
How is it calculated?
- Inner diameter d (mm) = √(4 × Q ÷ (π × v)) × 1000; Q (m³/s) = Q (l/min) ÷ 60,000
- Recommended flow velocities: pressure line 3–6 m/s (5 used here), return line 2–4 m/s (3), suction line 0.6–1.2 m/s (1)
- The recommended hose is the first standard size (3/16" … 2") above the calculated diameter.
The results are for preliminary selection; check the values in the manufacturer's catalogue and your system's conditions separately.
