Pneumatic cylinder bore calculator
Enter the force the cylinder must overcome and the line pressure; we calculate the required bore, choose the next standard bore up and show cylinders with that bore.
How is it calculated?
- Required bore D (mm) = √(4 × F (N) ÷ (π × p (bar) × 0.1 × load ratio)); 1 kg ≈ 9.81 N
- The recommended bore is the first ISO standard bore (8 … 320 mm) above the calculated one.
- Theoretical force F = p × 0.1 × π × D² ÷ 4; for pulling, the rod cross-section is subtracted (ISO 15552 rod diameter).
The results are for preliminary selection; check the values in the manufacturer's catalogue and your system's conditions separately.
